fettersGeorge Fetters enters his 13th coaching season with the Marauders after coming to the staff from Antelope Valley High School, where for 11 years he was the Antelopes’ defensive coordinator under Brent Newcomb. In addition to being the Marauders’ DC he is also AVC’s linebacker coach.
He was on the AVHS staff for a total of 18 years, interrupted by three years as the Palmdale High School head coach from 1980-1983. In those years, the Antelopes made it to the championship game nine times, winning four championships, including the 1994 title. Before joining the Antelope staff as an offensive line coach in 1973, Fetters was the offensive line coach at Eastern New Mexico University.

With the sole exception of Palmdale, Fetters has now only coached where he played. He played two years of varsity football for the Antelopes at guard and inside linebacker. He then moved on to AVC where he played the same positions for the Marauders under Austin Jordan and Ray Smith. He then moved on to ENMU, where he played offensive guard. At all three schools he was named captain and most inspirational. At AVC he was named All-America, as well as taking NAIA All-America honors at ENMU.
Fetters, a 1967 graduate of Antelope Valley High School, received his bachelor’s degree in health, physical education and recreation and his master’s in physical education from Eastern New Mexico University.
Married for 34 years, George and his wife Linda have one son, David, who played linebacker for the Marauders
