What is a browser?

A browser is a software program used to read documents written in HTML. The two most popular web browsers used are Netscape's Navigator or Communicator and Microsoft's Internet Explorer. Both programs do excellent jobs of reading HTML documents even if they do so a little differently. When you write HTML documents you should be aware that they may present themselves slightly differently on different browsers.
