I have a varied background which includes aerospace, healthcare, human services, and education industries.
While in aerospace, I worked as a security verifications clerk, program manager assistant, and as a financial analyst.
In the healthcare field, I have worked within all levels such as hands-on nursing, patient advocate, marketing and public relations specialist, event coordinator, systems analyst, supervisor, and Admin Team member. I have collaborated on projects to develop health education classes and Quality Assurance materials and programs; conducted work flow process analysis, recommended courses of action and implemented new policies and procedures.
I was also a Career Counselor Supervisor for the Welfare & Workforce Services division of Lockheed Martin IMS, recently bought out by ACS. This position allowed me to collaborate with employers and the community to assess educational and workplace needs.
For the past several years, I had been an adjunct faculty member at Cerro Coso Community College, teaching in the Business Administration area. In 2001, I became an adjunct faculty member at Antelope Valley College in the Business & Computer Studies Division, and also worked full-time as the Assistant Director of Corporate & Community Education at AVC.
Always looking for a new challenge, I applied for and was selected as a full-time instructor for the Business & Computer Studies Division at AVC. My new adventures officially began in August 2002.
My educational accomplishments include an AA in Business Administration from Antelope Valley College, a BS in Business Administration, emphasis in Organizational Systems Management, from Cal State Northridge, and an MS in Administration, emphasis in Business, from Cal State Bakersfield. As a lifelong learner, I continue to study and take courses in various subjects such as communication, health, psychology, diversity studies, and online teaching/distance learning. In June 2007 I completed a rigorous certificate program in Online Teaching & Learning through Cal State East Bay. I guess you can say that I am a product of the public education branch of higher learning in California! I look forward to continuing to learn and grow by completing other studies as well.

who is an elementary school teacher.

my daughter's classroom.
Life has thrown me a major challenge, having been diagnosed in May 2010 with Stage IV lung cancer. However, I believe my husband and I are now role models for our family and acquaintances. We have a positive attitude and hopeful outlook. I have never said "why me?" but I have said "why not me?" As a matter of fact, I am being treated by four excellent physicians at the City of Hope (the adult version of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital).
I will admit that I am a late bloomer (received my AA in 1990 at the grand old age of ##!) and that no one is too old to learn and to grow. Consider me as proof that goals can be achieved through lots of hard work, perseverance, and embracing life's challenges.
I have been teaching online courses for several years and understand the challenges of being an instructor and a student in the online environment. I look forward to helping you achieve success in your online class.
