NOTE: THIS IS A [HYBRID] ONLINE COURSE AND IS TAUGHT [PRIMARILY] AND NOT ENTIRELY ONLINE. This means that part of the course requirement is that students meet with the instructor for traditional face-to-face meetings on-campus and for approximately 2-3 hours each time. The first class meeting on-campus is [mandatory] and will be an [orientation] session on the FIRST DAY OF CLASSES AND MONDAY FEBRUARY 4TH AND FROM 8-10 AM (FIRST SESSION) AND 6-8 PM (SECOND SESSION) AND IN THE LEARNING CENTER (NEXT TO THE BE BUILDING ON CAMPUS). You are only required to attend [one] session (morning or afternoon) and not both. IF YOU DO NOT ATTEND THE FIRST CLASS ORIENTATION MEETING ON-CAMPUS, YOU WILL BE DROPPED FROM THE COURSE AND PER AVC COLLEGE POLICY (See AVC 2007-08 Student Handbook Page #56). Also, please come on time and be prepared to stay for the entire orientation period. These requirements are designed to assist and benefit the [student] and to enhance the overall learning experience of all students. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Now A Couple Extra Important Notices and Reminders:
** My online courses are just as challenging and time consuming as my normal and traditional face-to-face courses. Please do not be under the false impression that taking an online course will be easier or less time consuming. This course will require several hours a week of study and work time. If you cannot devote this much time, or cannot fulfill any of the requirements then you should not enroll in the course or you should enroll during another semester when you can devote the time and fulfill the requirements.
** Online courses require you to be comfortable and knowledgeable with working with computers and technology. Furthermore, you need to be self-disciplined and self-motivated. There are a lot of tasks and responsibilities that you must independently carry out and fulfill.
** You are required to have and use an [AVC] E-MAIL ADDRESS AND ACCOUNT for this course. All students are given and provided with a FREE AVC email address when they register for their courses. If you do not know what your AVC email address is or how to use it, please go to: myavc.avc.edu and start from there. Please use your AVC student e-mail address whenever e-mailing me.
If you have any questions or problems with your AVC email account or MYAVC, please contact the Information Technology Services (ITS) Help Desk at help@avc.edu or call (661) 722-6300 ext. 6605. Please take care of all email and enrollment matters BEFORE the start of classes.
NOTE: ALL students who attend the orientation meeting as described above WILL receive permission to add or crash the course. Thus, if you wish to crash the course, please attend the orientation meeting as stated above.
