Math 102 Homework and Test Schedule

Hints on
doing
homework:
  1. Every assignment includes reading the text. Before working the exercises in a given section you should read the material in the section which prepares you for those problems.
  2. Check the answers to your homework problems. When your results are incorrect, you should re-read the text and study the examples. If you cannot correct your own errors, make a note of those bothersome problems and ask about them in class.
  3. You will benefit greatly from reading ahead in the text. After completing the homework problems in one section, read the following section to prepare for the next day’s topic.
  4. A scientific calculator will be needed eventually, for logs and exponentials.  Graphing calculators are not required and may not be used during tests, so do not become too dependent on that tool if you have one.
  5. Late homework is discouraged and will not be accepted after the chapter test on that material.

Review.   Pretest for Chapter 1 (p.3-4): all problems.                                           Self-Test for Chapter 1 (p.83-84): all problems.   Check your answers and study the sections where you are weak. If you are having trouble with one section, then read that part more carefully and work every other odd problem in the exercise set for that section.  Then test yourself again using the summary exercises (p.77-82)
