Sooty-headed Bulbul Pycnonotus aurigaster 4 DP ( red-vented photo); yellow-vented 10 KK (photo). Common and widespread in the region. YV (KK - Cambodia) appeared more gregarious than RV - Northern Thailand). Vocalizations of the two forms were also distinctly different. No red-yellow variation was observed within the two populations.

Starling sp. ? (c.f. Sturnia sinensis and S. malabarica)    4 in flowering trees with a flock of Chestnut-tailed Starlings that flushed as I approached for photos, CRU (photo).

Note: Two different expert opinions were obtained on this photo: Dan Byrne judged this image to represent a Chestnut-tailed Starling (Sturnia malabarica), based on bill color and apparent lack of large white shoulder patches. Dave Sargeant identified it as a White-shouldered Starling (Sturnia sinensis), but offered no supporting explanation.
